I don't always know what a painting means when I begin it. Sometimes a thought, memory, feeling or question simply needs somewhere to go. Working intuitively with colour, movement, line and texture—and sometimes with words—allows something beneath the surface to emerge. For me, creativity is a way of listening, discovering and making meaning, and sometimes of encountering God in places I did not expect.
