I led a watercolour workshop over the holidays with my dear family members. As usual, we had a blast. To offset the cold - the ice - the snow, I decided to take our "Christmas Craft" on safari - a totally different direction than the usual winter or holiday themes. So here's a young elephant meandering through an African plain as the sun saturates the paper with luscious warm colours. I threw some lively splatters over the piece, as I imagined my elephant spraying down to cool himself from the hot day.
I think we all had a wonderful time experimenting with watercolours and salt on paper. I was delighted with the outcome of my students too! I posted theirs here. If you are interested in having me show you how to do this live online, let me know and if I get enough interest, maybe I can set something up! In the meantime, you can always check out my other workshops here.

Lori, I just loved your elephant watercolor! The colors are vibrant and the purple to me seemed as though there may be a storm coming ;but of course the elephant is not concerned about that, he is walking, so he is headed for his place of rest for the night! Loved it!
